Installations
Your garage door installation day is customized to your business’s or home’s architecture and your door’s physical properties. Two key factors dictate the installation flow: opening dimensions and door material.
Wood Doors: Dense and heavy, requiring a high-horsepower operator and a reinforced, commercial-grade I-beam rail system to prevent tracking from bowing under the weight.
Metal & Insulated Steel-Back Doors: Lightweight and budget-friendly, requiring standard hardware. A belt-drive is recommended to maximize lifespan and ensure quiet, smooth operation.
Upon arrival, our technicians perform a multi-point assessment to ensure a smooth, safe setup:
Verify the exact weight of the door.
Evaluate existing framing and ceiling structural support.
Confirm drive system compatibility to prevent premature wear and guarantee long-term reliability.
Maintenance & Repairs
When it comes to your garage door, appearances can be deceiving. While the automatic opener may be the first guess at a maintenance or repair issue, it is actually the springs and rollers that wear down due to the heavy lifting. At North Texas Garage Doors, we engineer every maintenance and repair call around precision, safety, and long-term performance.
Springs do the heavy lifting, and sizing them requires exact science:
The Math: We calculate the ideal wire gauge, length, and diameter using the door’s height, weight, and IPPT (Inches per pound per turn).
Hidden Weight: Multiple layers of paint over the years can add up to 60 pounds of extra weight. Failing to factor this causes dangerous premature wear.
Upgraded Nylon Rollers: We replace cheap plastic friction rollers with premium nylon 11-ball-bearing rollers to reduce motor strain and ensure smooth, quiet operation.
High-Tension Cables: Because these cables and bottom brackets are under extreme, lethal tension, never attempt DIY adjustments. Our technicians handle all necessary repairs safely.
Because the weight of your door constantly putting tension on the cables, bearings, and torsion tube, wear down is inevitable. That is why our comprehensive inspections—hunting for frayed cables, worn bearings, and failing hardware—are mandatory safety protocols on every service visit.
Safety First: Never attempt DIY repairs on high-tension garage door components. Let us at North Texas Garage Doors keep your system running smoothly and you safe!
Have Questions?
If wood doors lack proper sealant, they can dry out, crack, and eventually absorb water. This moisture absorption makes the door much heavier, putting dangerous stress on the opener if not properly managed.
Builder-grade plastic rollers lack bearings and are known as friction rollers. This friction forces your operator (motor) to work much harder, wearing it out prematurely. Upgrading to nylon 11-ball-bearing rollers makes the door run smoother, quieter, and significantly more efficiently.
Absolutely not. The bottom brackets are under immense, dangerous tension because the cables connect them directly to the wound-up torsion springs. Never touch or attempt to remove the bottom brackets while the spring is loaded, as doing so can cause severe injury.
We must know the exact height of the garage door and its material. These elements dictate the track length, spring tension, and motor size needed for the job.
Belt drives are engineered to be superior. They are smoother and quieter, last longer, and come backed by a longer warranty. This ensures long-lasting comfort and security for your garage.
An I-beam rail is a heavy-duty support track. It is often required for heavy wood doors to handle the intense lifting stress. Most standard metal doors do not need this upgraded rail.
